Summary

Head Chef

Location: 1, West Way Amenities Hub, Francis Crick Avenue, Cambridge.

Salary: £44,119.96

5 out of 7 days shift pattern.

Sodexo have an excellent new opportunity for a Head Chef located in Cambridge.

You will play a key role in leading and managing the culinary operations within our client's social hub, ensuring exceptional food service across various outlets. Your responsibilities include developing and executing dishes and food items according to the company's Modern Recipe standards, meeting performance, qualitative, and financial targets.

Key Challenges include enforcing statutory, company, and site OH&S compliance, motivating, engaging, and leading kitchen staff to maintain high culinary standards, identifying opportunities for sales growth within the contract and external market, ensuring accurate financial documentation and accountancy, and balancing creativity with operational efficiency within limited work and storage space.

Your main responsibilities include leading the culinary team to deliver meals and catering requirements to KPI and Modern Recipe guidelines, owning the culinary operations front and back of the house, ensuring compliance with company accountancy documentation and administration procedures, managing the budget, maintaining stock levels, compliance with quality standards, ensuring compliance with all Health & Safety, hygiene, and cleanliness regulations, maintaining kitchen equipment and establishment security, ensuring culinary standards meet SLAs specified in the contract, participating in internal and client meetings, recruiting, managing, and training kitchen staff, conducting performance reviews and staff development, and representing Sodexo positively through professional image and conduct.

Other responsibilities include timely completion of P&L reporting, exceeding company targets, culinary service delivery meeting contract SLA standards, compliance with Health and Safety regulations, continuous improvement of culinary service development, positive client satisfaction and relationship, meeting kitchen audit scores meeting company standards, staff turnover and recruitment practices in line with guidelines, and delivery of all internal compliance standards.

About You 

Experience and knowledge requirement for this role:

  • Hands-on approach to culinary work
  • Experienced in managing and leading kitchen teams for both a la carte and events service, the team managing will be a small team consist of 4 chef, 1 kitchen porter.
  • Proficient in recipe development, food costings, and managing GP (Gross Profit)
  • Strong financial understanding and skilled in budget management
  • Ability to effectively lead culinary operations.
  • Experienced in driving culinary innovation.
  • Customer-focused with excellent communication and negotiation abilities
  • Familiarity with culinary standards and compliance environment
  • Possesses relevant qualifications/training.
  • DBS Required
