A unique opportunity has arisen for a skilled and enthusiastic clinician to join the Enfield MusculoskeletalCommunity Health Hub in Edmonton, supported by our growing Advanced Practice and First Contact Practitioner team at Barnet and Chase Farm Hospitals.

This project is being delivered through a clinical partnership between the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Trust and the Royal Free London NHS Foundation trust. The post is based predominantly in Enfield, however some limited travel may also be required to other Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital and Royal Free London Hospital sites.

We are looking to recruit to a fixed term position until 31/3/26 to deliver First Contact Practitioner services in Enfield and work alongside Orthopaedic secondary care consultants. The successful candidate will also support the innovative work of the hub.

This is a training role, initially appointed at Band 7, progressing to Band 8a on completion of competencies. Candidates with appropriate Band 8a level APP/FCP experience will be appointed at Band 8a.

The successful candidate will have significant postgraduate experience of working with patients with complex MSK conditions; working within a bio-psychosocial approach. They will share responsibility for supporting less experienced staff working with this patient group. They will be expected to participate in the teaching and training of colleagues and other health care professionals as appropriate.

The successful candidate should be enthusiastic and passionate and have the motivation to encourage and facilitate best practice. We are looking for an individual who is an excellent communicator and team player.



The Enfield Musculoskeletal Community Health Hub is a proof-of-concept initiative that is being delivered through the clinical partnership between The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital Trust and the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust.

The aim of this initiative is to improve the health outcomes for patients with musculoskeletal conditions whilst addressing health inequalities and equity of access. The hub will create new and innovative pathways to support the delivery of high-quality care.





To work as an autonomous practitioner providing advanced physiotherapy assessment and management to a specific, highly specialised clinical caseload that frequently have complex and/or chronic conditions, without supervision; interpreting and analysing clinical and non-clinical data to form accurate diagnoses and prognoses

To develop comprehensive management and treatment plans, utilising a wide range of treatment skills to formulate a specialised empowering and progressive programme of care; communicating with other members of the MDT, referring practitioners, relatives and carers on the best course of intervention

To work as an APP, assess and manage patients, who frequently present with complex conditions, in Orthopaedic outpatient clinics after direct referral from their General Practitioner. This involves advanced clinical reasoning skills, requesting of investigations to assist in the formulation of a diagnosis whilst working unsupervised

To work as an FCP, assessing and managing patients who previously would have seen their GP, This involves advanced clinical reasoning skills, requesting of investigations to assist in the formulation of a diagnosis whilst working unsupervised and managing the care pathway.
