JOB DETAILS Job Title: Moving and Handling Trainer Reports to: Health and Wellbeing Practitioner Accountable to: Head of HR - Occupational Health and Wellbeing Band: 6 CSU/Directorate: Human Resources & OD Unit/Department: Occupational Health and Wellbeing Location : SJUH AfC Job No: 4379 2. JOB PURPOSE To work as part of the Occupational Health and Wellbeing Team, a function of HR, designing and delivering education, training and organisational development programs for staff at all levels primarily focused on safer moving and handling. To ensure the delivery of education and organisational development policies and plans to realise the Trust aspiration to be an employer of choice. To be a representative for Occupational Health and Wellbeing at meetings and events, including representing LTHT at City and Regional Level. To manage projects and work streams delivering outcomes to agreed timescales and budgets. To be a lead specialist for programmes in the Trust training and development provision relating to moving and handling specialism. To design and deliver facilitated training at LTHT. To manage and co-ordinate the provision of programme data to inform decision making. 3. JOB DIMENSIONS The post holder will work on their own initiative to plan and prioritise workload. Projects and development programmes will be identified along with the line manager and Head of HR and the post holder is expected to deliver to agreed targets and deadlines. Projects may include contacting and negotiating with providers outside the Trust to work within agreed budgets to deliver courses and services across the whole of the Trusts workforce, encompassing all grades of staff and their requirements. These objectives will be achieved through facilitation, engagement of stakeholders, analysis, planning, consultation, project management, capacity and demand analysis and other proven techniques to ensure all improvements are sustainable, and that good practice is shared and disseminated. 4. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED Qualifications Degree level qualification Teaching or training qualification RoSPA Level 4 Award in Practical Skills in Safer People Handling or equivalent - essential Post graduate/ professional qualification (desirable) Experience Experience of management / leadership development and delivery of NHS training programmes Experience of managing projects Experience of supporting and developing people Change management experience Management or supervisory experience Experience of third party working Skills Proficient user of Microsoft Office applications. An ability to design, deliver and evaluate high quality, learning and development interventions. Knowledge of project management methodologies and internal consultancy. Observation and feedback, especially in team or group settings, presentation and facilitation skills. A demonstrable commitment to the highest standards of training practice, customer service and patient experience. Highly developed interpersonal skills with the ability to influence widely and negotiate effectively. Communication skills, both verbal and written, especially in emotive areas around personal and organisational change. Managing emotional, sensitive, complex and contentious situations where there are barriers to acceptance e.g. conflict, failure (personal and organisational). Proficient in a range of IT software packages for use in presentations, report writing, and proposals. 5. PRINCIPAL DUTIES & AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY Design, develop, deliver, record and evaluate training programmes to groups of staff (up to general manager level) Recruit staff onto training programmes making judgements and decisions based on their qualifications, experience, aspirations and commitment. Assess and maintain participant progress and feed back to participants as appropriate. Provide information, advice and guidance on issues relating to education and training. Deal with complaints from participants attending training provided internally or commissioned by the Trust, carrying out a preliminary investigation. Contribute to the development of training policies and services to ensure the Trust has effective systems, processes and governance arrangements for learning and development. Support the infrastructure for induction, mandatory training and appraisal systems to ensure Trust is compliant with internal and external assurance requirements and fit for purpose. Lead work streams or work as part of a project team to deliver agreed outcomes, ensuring all project planning / management systems are implemented and maintained and budgets are adhered to. Plan and schedule training adjusting plans as required. Ensure that NHSLA standards and CQC outcomes relating to learning and development and organisational development are met. Attend meetings as required and ensure agendas / minutes are recorded and logged if required. Prepare and present reports, papers and data to teams, working parties, project update meetings and committees (fortnightly on average). Contribute to the promotion of learning and development in the organisation. Conduct audits as required and use surveys, questionnaires and other feedback methods and analyse the results. Perform any other duties commensurate with the grade of post as delegated by the line manager and/or Head of HR. Utilise and analyse data to identify trends and gaps in organisational training.
