Summary

30 Hours per week, Term time only plus 2 INSET days

8.50am – 4.15pm Monday, 8.50am – 3.25pm Tuesday – Friday

Addington School is a large all age outstanding special school catering for pupils with a wide range of learning disabilities, many of whom also have associated sensory, motor, medical and behavioural needs.

We are currently recruiting Learning Support Assistants to work at our main school site based in Woodley and are particularly interested to hear from applicants with an interest in supporting pupils in our Access Department which offers bespoke learning to each individual pupil providing the best opportunities for developing learning, communication and social skills.

The majority of learners in the Access department range from age 8 – 19 years, with a range of developmental and physical needs.

Providing support to the class teacher, you will assist with the general management of pupils, preparing the classroom, setting out resources and supporting with pupils’ individual needs.


You will support with the management of pupils with difficult and dangerous behaviours and implement behaviour management plans as required.


Using your previous experience and knowledge of supporting pupils with special educational needs and disabilities, you will have the ability to work 1-2-1 with pupils or with small groups whilst recognising that each child has specific needs. You will have the ability to adapt strategies based on pupils’ age and physical presentation.

With the ability to work independently or as part of a team, you will nurture and develop pupils through careful and sensitive support and intervention and will understand the pressure and requirement that this entails.
