Summary

Preparation for Adulthood Team Member for Horticulture and Community Enterprise

32.5 hours per week - term time only plus 5 INSET days and hours during school holiday periods

Addington School is an outstanding special school for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities.

All our pupils’ primary need is a learning difficulty that is either moderate, severe or profound, with up to 50 percent also having Autism. All pupils have an Education and Health Care Plan and we are currently accommodating up to 290 pupils aged between 3 and 19 years across 2 sites – Woodley and Farley Hill.


We are currently seeking a passionate and dedicated team member to lead on Horticulture and Community Enterprise as part our Preparation for Adulthood curriculum offer.

You will work with teachers across school to provide pupils with experiences that will enable them to develop skills and knowledge and an enjoyment of Horticulture. For some students you will be building work skills for future employment.

This will include collaborating with community groups, developing enterprise opportunities and providing resources and guidance for Horticulture based lessons. It will include delivering horticulture lessons to pupil groups, and individual work with pupils to support their wellbeing and mental health.


With a Level 3 qualification and a good knowledge of vocational qualifications, you will have working knowledge of horticulture, potential linked career opportunities as well as previous experience of working with young people with Special Educational Needs. You will have the ability to lead projects, collaborate with others and will be committed to getting the best out of our pupils.
