The School of Philosophy, Psychology and Language Sciences is seeking a full time Head of Teaching Administration on an open-ended basis.



The Opportunity:

As a key leader within our Professional Services group, the successful applicant will lead on the teaching administration service providing a robust and responsive support to academics and students, advising on policy and strategy in order to deliver the School’s objectives for undergraduate and taught postgraduate activity.

The ability to build positive and supportive working relationships with academic and professional services colleagues is a must and the post-holder will provide line management support to the schools UG & PG Teaching Coordinators, as well as act as Deputy to the Head of Student Services as and when required.

The role has a strong remit to ensure compliance to School, College and University academic regulations, policies and procedures relating to taught students and will work with other post holders in the school maintain high levels in such areas.

The School of Philosophy, Psychology and Language Sciences provides an exciting work environment through its three subject areas that have a diverse and dynamic research and teaching portfolio. The role will actively contribute and lead on school wide projects and help shape overall strategic direction and success.

Please note that whilst hybrid work arrangements can be discussed at the time of offer, on campus working is required for this role.

The role is a full-time position and whilst there is flexibility on exact work pattern there is an expectation for work to occur across the standard working week (i.e. Monday - Friday).



Your skills and attributes for success

Degree in relevant subject or equivalent formal training, plus typically a minimum of 2 years’ hands-on experience in a similar or related role(s), or, typically 5 to 8 years’ vocational experience, demonstrating development through involvement in progressively more demanding relevant work/roles.
Strong leadership skills including the ability to lead, inspire and motivate teams.
Thorough knowledge and understanding of the work practices, processes and procedures relevant to student administration, preferably gained from previous experience in the HE sector.
Proven skills in planning, prioritisation, allocation and delegation of work.
Proven experience in the development and delivery of a service culture and service delivery
