Dalmeny Primary School is a small non-denominational primary school situated at the heart of Dalmeny village, near South Queensferry. The building is around 60 years old, single story, and has 5 teaching areas for P1 to P7. The Nursery is a modern purpose-built unit, adjacent to the main building with its own garden area. Both sites are set within extensive school grounds which include a large playing field, an outdoor adventure-trail and a mini-trail for the Nursery.

In addition, a community woodland area within provides excellent opportunities for Outdoor Learning. The school roll, including the nursery, is approximately 100 learners. The school has 5 classes and the Nursery, situated in ample school grounds. The Nursery currently offers 2 models of attendance: 4 full days and half day Friday (1140 hours) or a blended option with 5 morning sessions in nursery and the additional hours with a partner childminder (1140 hours). The Nursery has the capacity for 30 children aged 3 - 5 years.

The catchment area is centred on the community of Dalmeny, within the North-West Locality. Dalmeny staff team consists of a Head Teacher and a Principal Teacher, 2 full-time and 3 part-time teachers, 1 full-time EYO, 2 Early Years Practitioners, 1 part-time EYP, a PE teacher, Business Manager, Administrator, 4 part-time Pupil Support Assistants and Facility Technicians.

Please note, for candidates that are invited for Short Leet there will be a virtual assessment centre consisting of three written tasks.

The Standard for Headship is now an essential requirement for this post. If the successful candidate does not meet this requirement the post may be offered on a temporary basis for a maximum period of 30 months if the panel is satisfied that, on an individual basis, there is a likelihood that the Into Headship qualification will be achieved within this timescale. A permanent contract will be offered only when the course is successfully completed. If it becomes clear that this essential qualification will not be achieved within 30 months then the contract will be ended with appropriate notice and the temporary Head Teacher will then revert to a DHT1 post available across the city.

Salaries will be in accordance with the Scheme of Salaries and Conditions of Service for Teaching Staff in School Education.

This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.
