Position Overview:

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Special Education Teaching Assistant to join our team on a 1-year contract basis from September. This contract is 5 days a week term time only. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in providing personalised support and assistance to our students with special educational needs where you will be supporting children on a 1-1 or 2-1 basis. The students needs range from ASD, MLD, PMLD and Emotional Behaviour.

Responsibilities:

Assist the classroom teacher in implementing individualised education plans (IEPs) for students with diverse learning needs.

Provide one-on-one or small group support to students during lessons and activities.

Support students with personal care tasks, including toileting, feeding, and mobility, as needed.

Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student engagement and participation.

Assist in the implementation of behavioural interventions and strategies to support positive behaviour management.

Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and other professionals to support student development and progress.

Maintain a safe and organised classroom environment, ensuring the well-being and safety of all students.

Qualifications:

Previous experience working with individuals with special educational needs preferred.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with students with diverse learning needs.

Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.

Willingness to undergo relevant training and professional development as required.
