Summary

Bookkeeper / Accounts Assistant

Harvey McQueen are extremely pleased to present an excellent opportunity to join one of our well-established clients based in Bolton.

This is an exciting opportunity for you to join a strong, local practice based in Bolton, who specialise predominantly in accounts, audit, tax, bookkeeping and VAT.

With this firm you are exposed to a variety of clients, considerably SME's, OMBs and Sole traders, working typically in retail and hospitality industry.

Their turnovers range from £50,000 up to £10 million. With years of experience, this practice gives you a great opportunity to develop on your current knowledge and progress internally with plenty of onsite training. This position has arisen due to internal growth within the firm.

Pay Benefits and Hours of work

• Offering a competitive starting salary of £25,000 to £35,000 depending on
experience
• Full-time permanent role.
• Hours of work, Mon-Thurs 9am – 5pm, Fri 9am – 4.30pm.

Responsibilities

• Working in a practice environment with occasional work required in a business
setting
• Processing payments, invoices, income and receipts and entering data into
accounting software or databases then filing hard copies
• Preparing financial statements showing business income and expenditure
• Paying vendor invoices and tracking bank account balances
• Completing VAT returns
• CIS returns, training will be given
• Reconciling Accounts
• Verifying the accuracy of business accounts and alerting the Accountant of
errors
• Recording any inconsistencies to help the Accountants reconcile inaccuracies
• Developing monthly financial statements including cash flow, profit and loss
and balance sheets
• Managing employee expense claims
• Helping the Accountant with administrative duties and preparing yearly
accounts
• General Bookkeeping
• Dealing with a wide range of clients with high turnovers
• Occasional client visits

Skills and Experience required for applying for this role

• AAT or working towards AAT. Will look at QBE
• Experience working in a practice is desirable but not essential
• Knowledge of bookkeeping packages – Sage, Xero and Quick-books
• Word and Excel
• Ability to manage and train staff
• Work to deadlines
• Excellent communication
• Keen eye for detail
