We are seeking to appoint a Learning Support Assistant to join our staff. We are a popular secondary school serving 650 pupils in the Castle Donington Area. Within easy reach of Derby, Nottingham and Loughborough, we are looking for an enthusiastic individual who is looking to work with young people and make a difference to their lives.
The successful candidate will be able to provide in class support to students with special educational needs and/or disability. They will be patient and calm preferably with experience of working in an educational setting or with children. They will work closely with the current Learning Support team under the leadership of our Assistant Principal for Inclusion, who is our Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator, as well as teaching staff across all curriculum areas.
We require an individual who will embrace the challenges of the role and who has the required qualities to support and build confidence of learners in all year groups. This is an exciting and unique role providing the opportunity to support and encourage individuals to overcome their learning difficulties and to help them develop their skills and confidence to work more independently. The successful applicant will have excellent communication skills, be committed, enthusiastic and have the ability to inspire learners to recognise and achieve their aspirations.
The appointed person will join a small and supportive team of staff and be able to make positive contributions to the development of the College.
On the application form, please focus on a detailed 'supporting statement' taking into account the person specification and indicating why you would be the best person for us to recruit to this position.
For further information regarding the post, or to arrange an informal discussion about the post, please contact Liz Ashurst, Operations Manager, via eashurst@cdcollege.uk or call the school office on 01332 810528.
The successful candidate will have to meet the requirements of the person specification in order to be offered the post, will be required to undergo a full enhanced DBS check and must be eligible to work in the UK. The Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Safeguarding checks will be undertaken during the recruitment process and this may include online searches.
We welcome applications regardless of age, gender, ethnicity or religion.
Closing date for receipt of applications is 09:00am on Thursday 23rd May 2024.
