Summary

We are recruiting 2 Sheltered Housing Officers at Caerphilly County Borough Council.

Working hours: 37 Hours (7.24 Monday – Friday)
Contract Type: Permanent/Full Time
Location: Various Locations in the borough

This is an exciting opportunity to join Team Caerphilly and provide support across the wider Housing Team.

We pay an attractive salary of £26,421- £28,770 and offer access to training and development opportunities.

Caerphilly County Borough Council has an exciting opportunity within the Older Persons Housing Team for two permanent Sheltered Housing Officers. The successful candidates will be required to work flexibly at site locations to provide support in our sheltered housing schemes across the Borough.

Other key parts of this interesting role are to monitor the general welfare of residents, providing a person-centred housing related support including welfare benefit advice and assistance which will in-turn, help them to live an independent life for as long as possible. Establish friendly relations with all tenants and, without interference, keep a watching brief for any indications that help may be needed.

Successful Applicants will also be asked to assess and review individual tenant’s support needs in accordance with the banded assessment levels and to undertake support visits and re-assurance calls to eligible tenants.

You will work closely with the Activities Co-Ordinator to assist tenants to develop relationships among themselves and promote and support activities. Carry out appropriate and effective site management within schemes in accordance with the procedures specified in the Sheltered Housing Officer Procedures Manual as well as sometimes undertake Building Managers health and safety tasks, including risk assessments.

For this varied and interesting role, applicants should be experienced in working with older people and be committed to providing high quality customer services. If you have a positive attitude and enjoy working as part of a team but also be able to work alone, possess excellent communication skills, a flexible in their approach to work we would love to hear from you.

For the role, we ask that you have:

1. National Warden’s Certificate / National Certificate in Supported Housing. Or Relevant Level 2 qualification on the Credit and Qualifications Framework for Wales. For example in Housing, Care or Support.
2. Understanding of Health and Safety legislation, Supporting People legislation and the roles of other agencies for example Social Services, Protection of Vulnerable Adults (POVA), Health, Community Psychiatric Nurses etc in dealing with the needs of older persons.
3. Full UK Category B (Cars) driving licence and the use of a motor vehicle insured for business / work purposes to travel throughout the borough to respond to any issues in a sheltered housing scheme.
