The Team

The successful candidate will work within the Estates Management and Development Directorate at York St John, as part of the team responsible for environmental & sustainability management, building compliance and energy management.

The role

This role is a 12 month fixed term maternity cover position. The successful candidate will be the primary point of contact for operational waste management. They shall support effective environmental management and day-to-day waste and recycling management at the University. This includes assisting with the monitoring, reporting and development of the University’s environmental performance to ensure the University’s compliance with all statutory obligations.

In addition to this there will be opportunity to deliver a number of environmental projects, surveys and audits across the University estate, supervising contractors as necessary, and coordinating input from other University staff where appropriate.

This role is 0.8 of full-time equivalent (FTE) role, which equates to 4 working days per week. There is potential for arranging working days/hours over the week to suit personal circumstances.

Required skills and experience

The successful candidate will thrive working in a complex environment. They should hold a degree in a numerate discipline, be able to work independently and as part of a project team. They should also have a genuine enthusiasm for carrying out environmental improvement projects.
