Summary

The Best Connection is looking for a Plant Operator. This role will entail working closely alongside other members of staff within the production department to fulfil orders and requests to satisfy customer needs. Although your main responsibilities will be focused on production, there are also other areas of opportunity to train and develop your skills & knowledge.

Tasks: There are 3 main areas of operation, these areas are Auto Hayssen Bagging Line, All-fill System, Hydrate All-fill System. Whilst working in these areas you will be required to manually handle a range of products from sachets with weights varying from 1kg to 5kg, and bags with weights ranging from 10kg to 25kg. These products vary dependant on customers’ needs and are packaged in a variety of ways, from sachets placed into bags and stacked to the weight of 1 Tonne in a pallet box or directly onto a pallet, to sachets packaged directly into a half tonne shipper box, and in additional products can be dispersed directly into the bags without the need for sachets then packaged in the same manner as sachet products.

Additional Tasks: You will be required to carry out further tasks to work in tandem with the production processes. These tasks include the use of a portable bag closer, a pneumatic stapler, a friction weld tool (PET/PP) and a stretch pallet wrapping machine. In addition to this you will be required to handle an electronic pallet truck for transporting materials and products around the plant and operate an overhead crane for disbursing products. There are further training opportunities whilst working with the company and the chance to gain additional tickets/qualifications such as a Forklift license, a Telehandler license, on-site Lorry license and First-Aid certification.

Additional information

Shifts - Monday to Friday. All shifts during rotation will be either days or nights. 12hr shifts starting at 5.30am/pm including 3x30 minutes paid breaks. Every Bank Holiday off, plus Holiday entitlement.

Pay & Progression: Starting on a 3-month probationary period through our agency (The Best Connection) at £11.50ph with a performance-based pay rise incentive, leading to the possibility of being taken on with Birch Chemicals at a higher annual salary and accessing benefits such as Healthcare, Pension, Events and Bonuses.
