Hays Education are working with a two-form entry Primary school in Barnsley, rated "Good" by Ofsted. Situated in Barnsley, this school prides itself on being warm, friendly and supportive. Your new role
You will be working 1:1 in the classroom with a non-verbal student with high needs. Providing support to the teacher, you will provide intensive interaction with the student and monitor their progression, providing feedback when required to the SENCO, other staff members and the child's family. This job is to start immediately, and will run until the end of the academic year in July. It is a full-time job working 5 days a week, 8:50am - 3:15pm.
What you'll need to succeed
In order to apply for this role it is essential that you have experience working with children with Special Educational Needs (SEN), ideally within the last 2 years. This can be in a school/residential/social care setting. A Teaching Assistant qualification would be beneficial but not essential. You must be immediately available for work, and willing to commit to the job until the end of the academic year in July. You will need an Enhanced DBS registered on the DBS Update Service, or the willingness to apply for one if not.
