Summary

This is an exciting learning opportunity in an industry leading business, pioneering wind speed measurements using laser light technology. As an Apprentices you will learn everything about Lidar technology and will put this into practice building, commissioning, testing, integrating, deploying and servicing Lidars.
As the Apprentice Engineering Technician, you will work alongside skilled engineers and Technicians every day to learn how the product works whilst working towards and achieving an Engineering Technician Technical Support Apprenticeship qualification.
Once you have mastered the skills to build new Lidars we’ll introduce you to servicing and maintaining lidars. We have a huge fleet of Lidars distributed across the globe. These Lidars are periodically returned for service, repair and upgrade activities. It’s anticipated that once fully qualified the Apprentice Engineering Technician will join our Service Team as a Service Engineer, where they will own the whole Service process from start to finish. This will include a full detailed report of the received condition, recommendations for repair and or service, detailing parts required to complete the repair or service, completing the repair to the highest quality standards and finally preparing the unit to be packed and returned.

This is an Apprenticeship, the successful candidate will work towards an Engineering Technician, Technical Support qualification which we expect to have a duration of 4 years. You will spend your time between the ZX site (WR13 6BD) and Herefordshire & Worcestershire Group Training who will provide formal training for the Apprenticeship which will comprise of:
Year 1 includes 26-42 weeks off the job training to cover practical and theory aspects
Year 2 would include 1 day per week to complete EAL Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering - Development Knowledge
Years 2,3&4 will be based in company developing skills in preparation for the end point assessment to gain your qualification.
You will receive monthly visits from your assigned Learning and Development Specialist, who will set you work, monitor your development and wellbeing, and discuss training sessions. They will also prepare you for your End Point Assessment.
Additional training for functional skills in English and Math's will be undertaken if needed.
There is also a five-day teambuilding residential trip that is held in the spring of each year offered to all apprentices on programme.

We would also love to hear from candidates who have an interest in renewable energy/mechanical/ electrical/electronic engineering disciplines.

The successful candidate would need to hold a full and current UK Driving Licence for them to be able to fulfil their duties. The location of the site isn’t supported by local bus services and therefore making own transport arrangements to get to work is essential.
