Summary

Patient careTo be professionally and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of the practitioners professional activitiesTo undertake the specialist assessment of patients as an autonomouspractitioner, including those with highly complex presentations, and usingclinical reasoning skills, knowledge of evidence based practice and advancedmusculoskeletal expertise determines appropriate care plan utilising specialisttreatment skills and options, in both face to face and remote consultationsTo interpret and analyse clinical and non-clinical facts to form accuratediagnoses in a wide range of highly complex musculoskeletal conditionsTo formulate accurate prognoses and recommend best course of intervention,developing comprehensive discharge plansTo be responsible for own and team patient care plans and will be consultedfrequently for specialist advice and guidance by junior team members andother health care professionals both within and outside the trustTo continually reassess patients in order to progress treatments effectively and advise patients, employers and occupational health departmentson theappropriate time to return to work, sports and other activitiesTo co-ordinate intervention which may include other disciplines; advises and educates patient/carers/relatives/other health professionalsTo manage clinical risk within own caseload and that of designated team at all timesTo participate in the Saturday weekend working rota for MSKTo provide physiotherapy services as sole practitioner in GP clinic locations as requiredTo be responsible for maintenance of accurate written records using POMRsystem and use of computerised diary and records and supervision of teamrecord keeping; to include comprehensive progress and discharge reports to medical referrers and legal and disability reportsTo use specialist knowledge to refer to other health disciplines as appropriateTo demonstrate physical ability to carry out physiotherapy assessment andinterventions including manual therapy techniques and therapeutic handlingTo demonstrate highly developed dexterity, co-ordination and palpatorysensory skills for assessment and manual treatment of patientsTo be highly competent in assessing a wide range of musculoskeletalconditions based on advanced theoretical knowledge of anatomy, physiology and pathology, often in situations where conflicting evidence ispresentService developmentTo ensure as team leader that designated staff implement policy and servicedevelopmental changesTo be responsible for ensuring that quality standards and effectiveness ofpatient care are continually improvedTo propose policy changes concerning the physiotherapy management ofmusculoskeletal patients, and to guide the musculoskeletal physiotherapyteam to provide an efficient and effective service in this clinical area.To work with the Clinical Lead and Deputy Clinical Lead MSK in developing the strategic and operational management of the physiotherapyservice.To contribute to the managerial matters of the directorate and departmentincluding development and implementation of departmental policies
