Summary


We are looking to recruit a trainee ACCP to the team based on the Acute Intensive Care Unit at Wythenshawe Hospital. Successful applicants will follow a 2 year and 1 semester apprenticeship program including study at Master’s level at Salford University commencing September 2024. Salford University is the preferred HEI as the program is aligned to FICM standards and also incorporates the non-medical prescribing course which is essential for these posts.

Following successful completion of the MSc in Advance Clinical Practice and training linked to FICM standards trainee will progress to Advanced Critical Care Practitioner at band 8a and function at junior doctor level taking up slots on the medical trainee Critical Care rota.

For the trainee post you must have substantial critical care experience at a senior nurse level and be able to demonstrate the ability and motivation required to take on an advanced practice role and study at Master’s level.

To meet the requirements of the Apprenticeship scheme, applicants must have Maths and English GCSE at grade C or above or Key Skills L2, and be a Registrant in their field.

The aim of the ACCP program is to develop an autonomous practitioner working in a new role within the Critical Care Units. Core skills will include patient assessment, appropriate ordering and interpretation of investigations, procedural skills including line insertion and discharge to the ward.

The ACCP will play a key role in providing care to our patients and will be expected to work closely with the consultant team to drive standards of care and innovation, supporting education, research and audit and developing practice.
