Be part of our passionate dietetic team at MFT where we have vision & motivation to empower people to achieve their goals, feel better & live longer. Here you’ll enrich your career in one of the largest NHS Trusts in England. You’ll be a highly valued member of our amazingly diverse seventy strong dietetic team, who make a real difference across 4 hospital sites. Based at Wythenshawe Teaching Hospital, you’ll be close to vibrant Manchester, enjoying its culture and excellent transport links; whilst working in the relatively calm surroundings of a suburban hospital. As we work together to improve the services provided to our local community & those accessing our regional specialist services, you & your patients will benefit from the biggest electronic record system & innovative online patient portal.

We develop our workforce, here you can really grow with the knowledge & guidance shared by our multi-sited dietetic working groups. Why not contribute by writing an article for our health & wellbeing newsletter, presenting at a CPD event, or supporting the preregistration training programme. Want more opportunities, consider the career paths of your colleagues who have accessed research training, undertaken a non-medical prescribing course, advanced their clinical competencies, developed their leadership skills, & expanded their educator abilities.

Beginning your band 6 competencies or wanting to advance them, we can support your aspirations.

Once appointed, you’ll work within the national centre for heart & lung transplant, ventricular assist devices & extra-corporeal membrane oxygenation. As a transplant dietitian you’ll build a strong rapport with patients. Supporting them throughout their journey, starting with pre-transplant optimisation. Then, you’ll provide after-surgery nutritional support on critical care & on our dedicated transplant ward. You’ll play a key part in rehab, giving dietary education & helping to treat conditions which arise post-transplant, such as dyslipidaemia, diabetes, kidney disease, & excess weight gain.

Have a recognised dietetics degree or equivalent & registered with the HCPC; you’ll assess the nutritional condition of patients, make dietetic diagnoses, give therapeutic treatment options, & provide evidenced-based tailored advice. As the consistent practitioner, you’ll review outcomes to facilitate a patient’s goals.

Your advanced communication skills will produce records achieving national & local standard. An empathetic clinician, you’ll show compassion in difficult situations.

A valued member of multi-disciplinary services, you’ll work with highly skilled specialist nurses, doctors, speech & language therapists, & psychiatrists.

You’ll access regular coaching, supervision & yearly appraisal. What’s more, after 12 months in your band 6 role you may opt to join our band 6 speciality exchange programme, with the possibility to expand your knowledge & skills in other fields.
