Santander are recruiting for a team member of the Automation team responsible for the facilitation and implementation of new capabilities for full Infrastructure Automation giving you an excellent opportunity to engage on and drive new and exciting projects.

This role will be responsible for developing, assisting with and implementing Infrastructure Automation solutions across the IT estate - the automation
engineer is tasked to deliver solutions aligned with the Automation roadmap and aligned to our corporate strategy.

The difference you'll make.

  • Being a subject matter expert and taking on a consultative role as it pertains to infrastructure automation
  • Setting standards/guidelines for IT Automation, both of the code itself and the level of documentation
  • Assisting other teams to resolve automation challenges as part of a centre of excellence for Infrastructure Automation
  • Training other members or juniors on automation technologies
  • Understanding the I AM Risk principles and follow and promote the risk culture within area
  • Carrying out the role to be responsible for identifying, assessing, managing and reporting risk using the appropriate Company procedures and channels.

What you'll bring:

  • Automation & Configuration Management Software (Ansible is preferred)
  • Python development
  • Code Repository software (GitLab)
  • Experience with automation of Linux, Windows & VMware
  • Experience with automating at least one the following Cloud Platforms (vCloud, AWS & Azure)
  • Experience with Docker, Swarm & Kubernetes

It would also be nice for you to have.

  • Job Scheduling and Runbook Automation (e.g. Rundeck)
  • Code Validation and Deployment Software (SonarQube/Jenkins)
  • Network troubleshooting
  • Scrum

This role is based in Milton Keynes and our current expectation is at least 2 days in an office every week.

1st Stage - Technical Interview - this will be a 30 min technical interview with one of the team.

2nd Stage - A one-hour formal interview where we will ask both technical and competency-based questions. This can be done virtually or face to face depending on your situation.
