Summary

We have an excellent opportunity for two Construction Assurance Managers to join our team in the South East region. The Construction Assurance Manager will play a key role in the delivery of National Highways Capital Investment Schemes by representing the companies interests on civil engineering construction and maintenance sites. Reporting directly to the Construction Manager, you will actively work with the Planning & Development team to ensure construction scheme site surveys and investigations are planned, co-ordinated & delivered in line with time, cost, quality and safety standards, and the customer experience is not adversely impacted. The well-established Construction team pride itself on its culture and this role will give you a varied, challenging workday, every day.

This role is likely to require travel across the South East Region and you will be based from one of our offices located in Maidstone or Basingstoke. 

You will be required to drive as part of your role and you will need to have a full clean driving license to be considered for this position and during employment.

What you’ll be leading on

Assuring the completion of planned works to agreed standards and escalate any concerns to the Construction Manager, in line with agreed governance requirements.
Ensuring that all works are undertaken in line with: CDM regulations, HSE Legislation, Chapter 8 requirements, Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB) and Manual of Contract Documents for Highways Works (MCHW).
Ensuring Project Managers/Engineering Managers/Asset Leads receive regular and timely feedback on scheme survey & investigation progress, risks, early warnings, scope related issues, and act as the initial point of escalation for any on-site issues that need to be resolved.
Acting as liaison between all key supply chain partners and co-ordinate the survey & investigation programme, ensuring works are planned & co-ordinated and lesson learnt reviews are carried out on all projects.
Successfully managing scheme survey & investigation works and ensuring that all H&S documentation is in place and all CDM responsibilities and Chapter 8 requirements are undertaken correctly by the respective parties.
Maintaining good liaison with Project Managers/Engineering Managers/Asset Leads and Commercial & Procurement colleagues, providing relevant and timely information on Early Warnings and Compensation Events

To be successful

Proven highways/structures maintenance/construction experience; experience of working on high speed Trunk Road/Motorway Networks is desirable
Knowledge of site-based processes, relevant legislation, practices and policies for health & safety, environmental and quality management, including good understanding of the DMRB, MCHW, Chapter 8 of the Traffic Signs Manual and CDM Regulations.
Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) or Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) preferred.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including stakeholder management, with a strong customer focus and managing geographically dispersed teams.
Ability to plan & co-ordinate site activities and ensure all the necessary H&S documentation is produced and accepted well in advance of the proposed site works.
Experienced in using the NEC 4 ECC form of contract.
