Summary


This is an exciting opportunity to work in an extremely busy Trust, actively supporting the administrative processes within Family History clinic including the Mainstream Genetics service at St Barts Hospital.



The team requires a highly organised Admin & Data Support Worker to provide a range of duties. Candidates must have excellent communication and secretarial skills, which will include word processing, audio typing, and digital typing skills. Knowledge of G2 digital dictation would be an advantage. It is essential to be well-motivated and able to cross cover within the department and to work as part of the team.

Knowledge of medical terminology and previous experience as a medical secretary are essential.



Provide support to the Family History Data Manager and the Clinical Nurse Specialist with the Family History and Mainstream Genetic Database (including BRCA Direct).

Provide support in collecting data, assist with research and audit to improve the Family History and Mainstream Genetic Service.

Manage Mainstream Genetics Database, ensuring a smooth and efficient service for patients throughout their treatment.

Be a key contact in providing patients with access to healthcare professionals, information on appointments and assisting with other queries.

Manage clinic profiles to ensure capacity is used efficiently, including regular monitoring of

clinic utilisation and use of corrective actions on CRS (the Trust’s patient information

system) when required & eRS (Electronic Referrals System)

To ensure all national and local waiting time targets are met, identifying potential breaches, working with all staff groups to correct where possible. Monitor the pathway through the scheduling process to identify any potential blockages, highlighting these to the breast team and implementing changes where necessary.

Liaise with clinical teams, senior managers, MDT Coordinators, Administrative teams, external hospitals, and other professionals within the multi-disciplinary team to ensure patients are tracked on the correct pathway.

An enthusiastic, flexible, and adaptable approach with the ability to respond constructively to changes and demands as required.
