We are looking for people to join us supporting adults with learning disabilities and or/autism and complex conditions, supporting them to live in their community and have a great quality of life, supported by Positive Behaviour Support, and committed to reducing/eliminating restrictive practices including physical restraint. You will support people to develop amongst others, social, coping and communication skills and be supported by qualified practitioners.
You must be a team player, at times being able to lead, patient and have a sense of humour. Be able to use positive, calm, and clear communication to support calming and de-escalation.
Each day will be different and some harder than others and we are always there to support you. A great pair of eyes and ears are essential to recognise when a person is not feeling their best and may display behaviours which challenge. You will need lots of patience and understanding, resilience, able to follow a care plan but also think on your feet at times of crisis.
Ideally you will have experience of supporting individuals who are none verbal and using different communication tools which includes use of electronic tablets and Pictures (PECS) and developing people to learn new skills.
You don’t need to be trained as a Michelin chef but , but be able to cook, snacks and make a brew is essential.
You must be able to use electronic systems of care planning and record keeping.

£13 per hour (7am-7pm & 7pm-7am)
Shift pattern: All range of shifts, Days, Waking Nights and sleep in shifts.
An enhanced DBS check is a requirement for the role.
YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES REGARDING INDIVIDUALS:
· Provide direct support to individuals who exhibit complex and challenging behaviour.
· Manage the behaviour and to enable them to participate in a wide range of therapeutic and social activities including swimming, cycling, walking etc.
· Be involved in the assessment and management of risk and follow risk assessments consistently.
· Have active listening skills and the ability to use positive, calm and clear communication.
· Provide emotional support to individuals, to support them in managing their anxieties and behaviour through coping strategies.
· Maintain appropriate records relating to good practice, health, safety and statutory requirements.
· Support individuals with their personal finance arrangements and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and company Policies and Procedures.
· Encourage health promotion, such as regular health checks, dentist and doctor’s appointments and health screening checks.
· Promote independence with daily activities, such as personal care, cooking, finance management where appropriate, and general housekeeping.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES:
It is the nature of the service we provide that tasks and responsibilities are in many circumstances variable and unpredictable. All staff are therefore expected to work flexibly when the need arises, so that tasks that may not be covered in this job description are undertaken. Also, individuals supported may display challenging behaviours, in which case training will be provided to minimise these behaviours.
