Summary

Signalong provides training and resources to assist those with communication difficulties and English as an additional language. Signalong is a key word sign-supported communication system based on BSL using speech, sign, body language, facial expression and voice tone to reference the link between sign and word. We are a small, friendly team providing support to over 500 Tutors across the UK.

The role will be responsible for facilitating the smooth running of the Signalong office and organising a range of administrative and management-related tasks, depending on current requirements.

This involves (but is not limited to) dealing with the bookkeeping and stock control, supervising the work of the office staff, managing the office environment and other general associated duties.

Essential Skills:

• Team management experience (team of 3 people minimum);
• Attention to detail and high level of accuracy;
• Reliability, flexibility and adaptability;
• Organisational and problem solving skills; must be able to remain calm under pressure and look for solutions, rather than spend time apportioning blame;
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; an ability to deal with a wide variety of people and organisations, from Signalong Tutors, to external suppliers and stakeholders;
• Car owner with business class insurance.

Desirable:

• Experience with bookkeeping (SAGE 50, Xero), accounts and stock control;
• Formal bookkeeping qualification;
• Experience in the charity sector;
• Formal management qualification;
• Experience in proof reading documentation;
• Experience in delivering training.
