Summary
Job role:
Assist the manager to lead and support a team of practitioners in providing quality education and care for pre-school children; contributing to and implementing pre-school policies; being a key person to a small group of children; planning for creative educational activities alongside the setting curriculum and EYFS. To ensure the safety and well-being of all the children.
Duties & Responsibilities:
· Teach the children, offering an appropriate level of support and stimulation so that each child’s needs are met, and they can fully participate in the session.
· Support children to develop independence and self-help skills.
· Take responsibility with other staff members for following the preschool’s registration and departure procedures.
· Support with the setting out and clearing up and cleaning of preschool equipment.
· Keep appropriate, accurate and efficient records to support with children’s play and well-being.
· Attend daily and weekly staff meetings; assisting with the planning of the curriculum
· Attend in-service training courses and meetings as required
· Be a key worker for a small group of children, liaising closely with their parents/ carers and ensuring each child’s needs are recognised and met
· As a key worker meet with parents at the start of a child’s time at Pre-School to help children settle in.
· As a key worker, make regular observations of the small group for whom they are responsible, use those observations to help plan the next steps of learning for those children, keep appropriate records and report to parents on the progress of their child at parent consultation meetings
· Perform additional duties as required for the smooth running of the Pre-School
Requirements and experience:
· Full and relevant Level 2 or Level 3 qualification as outlined by The Department of Education. Experience of working with 2 - 5 age group.
If your qualification was gained overseas you will need to show that you have undertaken the ENICS comparability process so that your qualifications are recognised in the UK.
