Role Overview

Transport Team Manager

  • Location: Glasgow (ML4)
  • Salary: £28,974 Per Annum + 20% Shift Allowance for hours worked between 22:00 - 06:00 (equivalent to £34,768) with potential further progression once in post subject to performance
  • Shift Pattern: 5 / 7 days per week varying shift pattern to include a mixture of days, nights, and weekends
  • Contract Type: Permanent

We're currently looking for a Team Manager to join our friendly team at our Glasgow Transport site, working at pace to meet changing customer needs whilst upholding the highest levels of safety and compliance. In this role, you are pivotal in managing the day to day interactions in our Transport Admin Office. You'll be managing the admin processes, driver's schedules, and vehicle management to ensure we are compliant with driving legislations and that we are getting our trailers out on time.

What you'll be doing

Reporting into the Transport Operations Manager you'll work as a team with 5 other Transport Team Managers on your shift to support and manage your team of LGV Drivers, to ensure delivery schedules are achieved. You'll be managing several key tasks including but not limited to:

  • Administrative support, making sure drivers' hours and absence are tracked, and cover is in place
  • Ensuring compliance of the driver route scheduling system
  • Managing the communication with the drivers to ensure they have the information they need to get out on time
  • Responsible for your team of LGV Drivers, managing all HR processes including wellbeing, attendance, engagement, performance, and conduct (with support from the HR team)
  • Continuous delivery of operational and customer service key performance indicators

What you need to show us

  • Experience within a similar role in the Transport sector
  • People management experience
  • Organised with excellent attention to detail and able to manage your workload as well as multi task
  • Strong communicator and team player
  • Happy to work alongside our drivers and management alike
  • Good with processes, accurate admin and computer use (basic in excel and in house systems)

Potential to complete the highly regarded CPC Transport Manager qualification, Level 3 to Level 7 management apprenticeship qualifications are available, subject to performance.
