Summary
Join our dynamic and skilled ED consultant team at the Royal Free Hospital. We are seeking enthusiastic and motivated individuals to join our Emergency Department (ED) team, as part of an expansion in consultant-led service for our department. You will be expected to work alongside other members of the emergency department team to provide world class care in adult and paediatric emergency medicine. You will provide clinical leadership in several areas of the department including our RAT area, Ambulatory Area (AEC) and Adult Assessment Area (CDU/AAU) as well as providing shop floor supervision and teaching to the junior staff members. The ED consultants provide approximately 15 hours of shop floor cover every day as well as on call and cover for Major Incidents. You will take on a clinical supervision role and ensure high standards are met through structured supervision of specialist registrars, middle grade trainees and FY2s. You will also contribute to the structured education of the medical students, middle grades, FY2, ENPs and ANPs. You will be expected to attend departmental meetings, liaise with speciality teams and contribute to departmental governance which is equally shared. You will also have the opportunity to participate in multi-disciplinary audit, quality improvement and development of clinical pathways to help drive the quality and processes within the department. Participation in developing a high quality service is actively encouraged and highly valued. The trusts intention for this workforce expansion is to improve emergency services to patients, to increase supervision of junior staff, improve educational opportunities and provide extended shop floor cover in line with the RCEM recently published guidelines. There will be an opportunity for the post holder to develop a specific area of self-interest which compliments the other consultants.
