Robust planning and Trust support to the ED has enabled separated COVID treatment areas as contingency for future epidemics. We are looking for innovative, dynamic individuals to help develop and deliver a world class care service to our patients alongside a highly competent team within our new multi million pound department. Excellent CPG pathway design enables the department to consistently move with trends and changes in EM patient care.

• Delivering teaching to trainee and non-trainee doctors
• Educational and clinical supervision of junior doctors

You will join an existing team of 11 WTE consultants to work across our newly built state of the art emergency department which incorporates:

We are located in an area with excellent facilities and Hampstead Heath close by. There are many local coffee shops, pubs, cafes and restaurants with an impressive high street and direct access to central London. As a team we recognise that a work/life balance is vital, and a thriving social life is enjoyed amongst the ED staff. There will be an opportunity for the post holder to develop a specific area of self-directed interest which compliments the other consultants.

We welcome candidates who are on the GMC Specialist Register as Emergency Medicine Consultants in Paediatric EM, Adult EM or those holding dual CCT. We will welcome holders with other sub-specialty interests within Emergency medicine including research to apply for the position.

In 2021-2022 we saw 150,000 patients, approximately 20% ( 29,000) of these were paediatric attendances.

Join our dynamic and skilled ED consultant team at the Royal Free Hospital.

We are seeking enthusiastic and motivated individuals to join our Emergency Department (ED) team, as part of an expansion in consultant-led service for our department.

You will be expected to work alongside other members of the emergency department team to provide world class care in adult and paediatric emergency medicine. You will provide clinical leadership in several areas of the department including our RAT area, Ambulatory Area (AEC) and Adult Assessment Area (CDU/AAU) as well as providing shop floor supervision and teaching to the junior staff members.

The ED consultants provide approximately 15 hours of shop floor cover every day as well as on call and cover for Major Incidents. You will also contribute to the structured education of the medical students, middle grades, FY2’, ENP’s and ANP’s.

You will be expected to attend departmental meetings, liaise with speciality teams and contribute to departmental governance which is equally shared. You will also have the opportunity to participate in multi-disciplinary audit, quality improvement and development of clinical pathways to help drive the quality and processes within the department.

Participation in developing a high quality service is actively encouraged and highly valued. The trust’s intention for this workforce expansion is to improve emergency services to patients, to increase supervision of junior staff, improve educational opportunities and provide extended shop floor cover in line with the RCEM recently published guidelines.

There will be an opportunity for the post holder to develop a specific area of self-interest which compliments the other consultants.
