Summary

Consultant Haematologist (Haemostasis and Thrombosis)

Applications are invited for a Consultant in Haematology with a special interest in haemostasis and thrombosis. This is a substantive replacement post for 10 PAs but applications would be considered from those wishing to work less than full time.

You would be joining a haematology department with eighteen consultants and ten specialty trainees working across the whole breadth of haematology. This role would join the specialist haemostasis unit delivering specialist care on a dedicated rota. The Haematology Department is passionate about education with CMG education lead and Year 4 OSCE lead roles in the department as well as very strong links to Leicester University Medical School. We have an active research portfolio including early phase research and are big recruiters to national trials, including an active non-malignant haematology research group. We strive to continually develop our service and have previously won internal specialty awards for quality improvement.

Our new strategy, 'Leading in healthcare, trusted in communities' was developed with the support and feedback of colleagues, patients, and partners and is our compass for the next seven years (2023-2030).

We have four primary goals:
• high-quality care for all,
• being a great place to work,
• partnerships for impact, and
• research and education excellence

And we will embed health equality in all we do - taking active steps to reduce the avoidable differences in healthcare that some people face, working in partnership with communities.

Our strategy is underpinned by new values and we will work to ensure they are an everyday reality for all:
• we are compassionate,
• we are proud,
• we are inclusive, and
• we are one team

This is an exciting moment as we look to the future with clarity on what we already do well and where we need to focus our energies to make an even bigger difference for the people we serve.

The haematology department is based at the Leicester Royal Infirmary but provides liaison advice across the Trust and wider community. We are a comprehensive care centre for haemophilia and a VTE exemplar site. We also provide specialist TTP care across the East Midlands in conjunction with colleagues in Nottingham. There will be opportunities within the department to develop specialist interest in areas within haemostasis and thrombosis, including obstetric haematology.
