Summary

A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join our Development & Supporter Engagement Team as Project Officer on a part time, temporary contract (12 months).
As Project Officer you will be leading the management of YHA’s Generation Green 2 programme that will give underserved young people (YP) in England an opportunity to spend a night under the stars and connect with nature in our protected landscapes. Your efforts will result in YHA connecting 2,100 children and young people to nature through funded residential experiences.
Supported by the Programme Director, you will lead YHA’s internal project team made up of representatives from across central departments and the hostel network to ensure smooth delivery of the project goals. And you will support the Programme Director, working closely with key stakeholders within the six other coalition partner organisations.

What will you be doing?
Working with the Programme Director you will be:

Managing the project’s end to end delivery, developing, and managing a detailed project plan ensuring deadline and budget expectations within it are met and determining the resources required to execute the project successfully and track this over time. This will include co-ordinating all project documentation and processes, including action and issue tracking, risk identification, escalation, and mitigations.
You’ll represent YHA on the cross-coalition Programme Team (made up of project officers from each of the coalition organisations) report on progress and oversee elements of partnership-working for successful delivery.
Working closely with Education, Products & Partnerships, Operations, Communications, Digital and Trading teams, to deliver an integrated plan to meet engagement and delivery targets for Generation Green residentials and supporting the evaluation, impact measurement and ROI reporting of YHA deliverables outlined in the plan.
You will coordinate all project-related meetings, workshops and ensure actions are tracked and completed. Establishing reporting mechanisms, develop internal communications and required assets for delivery which will be linked to core workstreams.
Regularly communicating progress, both verbally and via project reports to the sponsor, programme director and projects teams within YHA and across the coalition.

?What Skills and Experience do you need?

Experience of delivering high-impact charity, education or youth work projects to time and budget. Ideally in a complex or geographically dispersed organisation.


Highly organised with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks with a solution-focused approach.
Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to communicate and influence at all levels.
Practical evidence of working collaboratively; establishing and maintaining good working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, developing a positive personal and organisational profile, and building trust.
Ability to recognise when to adapt and flex management approach for different stakeholders or workstreams.
Strong analytical, numeracy and reporting skills.
Ability to use Microsoft applications at intermediate level.
Knowledge and understanding of child safeguarding.?
Ability to work flexibly, including travel throughout England and Wales with occasional evening and weekend working and regular overnight stays to meet the needs of the business.
