The group is committed to benefitting heritage, people and a shared future, by preserving, restoring and enhancing their heritage assets, by being a significant contributor to their communities and by being seen as a leader in the way they do things.
About the role
We have a brand new opportunity for an enthusiastic student / graduate with an interest in audience research to join our Insight team on a year-long placement (9-12 months) from summer 2024.
The Insight team plays a central role in audience understanding at the Devonshire Group. In Insight, we draw on a variety of feedback tools and data sources to answer strategic questions. We are a small team that sits within Group Marketing, spending time with colleagues across Chatsworth, Bolton Abbey and Lismore Castle in Ireland.
Supported by the Senior Insight Manager and colleagues around you, you will play an integral role in supporting the delivery of the audience research programme at the Devonshire Group, including our in-house research as well as partnerships with external agencies.
You will have the opportunity to support commissioned research projects, from initial briefing, set up and design, to project execution, analysis and presentation of results. This may include tasks such as reviewing research materials against our objectives and administration of research incentives.
You will have a wide range of duties, allowing you to develop a solid understanding of audience research principles whilst gaining invaluable skills and experience. This will include tracking audience data and feedback, supporting in-house event evaluations, analysing relevant market trends, reviewing internal research processes against best practice, and conducting basic desk research.
Hours and location
This is a 9-12 month placement working 37.5 hours per week from 9:00am to 5.30pm, Monday to Friday, with flexibility to work the occasional weekend when required. The role will be based at the Estate Office on the Chatsworth Estate in Derbyshire.
Who we are looking for
This role would be appropriate for placement students or recent graduates. This means you will currently be studying towards an undergraduate degree course or above, or be a recent graduate, ideally in an analytical discipline or in a course with a market research component.
Other qualities important to this role include being analytically minded (numerate) and data literate, with the ability to pull from different sources to build a data-led narrative.
You will be a natural communicator as you will need to communicate your findings in both a written and verbal form. You must have outstanding attention to detail and time management skills.
We would really like you to be enthusiastic and passionate, with a passion for our brands and the heritage, arts and hospitality sectors.
Ideally, you will have some experience of using online survey platforms and knowledge of market research methods and approaches (quantitative and qualitative).
Work experience in a research-related role would be a bonus but is not essential for this role.
In alignment with our core values, we embrace the principle of "Always Improving”, and we expect our successful candidate to share and believe in this value. As employees, we provide students with the opportunity to work on their own projects enhancing their knowledge and abilities throughout their time with us.
In return
We can offer you the opportunity to work in the beautiful surroundings of Chatsworth, within a super friendly and supportive team with access to a wider network of colleagues and other graduates/placement students.
We genuinely care about our employees and offer several company benefits including a wellbeing calendar of events, an onsite gym and swimming pool, and access to an Estate Pass for free access to Chatsworth for you and guests plus discounts at various hotels and restaurants across the Devonshire Group. First stage interviews are expected to take place week commencing 27th May 2024.
