Summary

A gentleman in the Oakham area requires support with accessing the community.

Female PA required.
Hours per week : - Thursday afternoon generally – 3 hours – session to start between 12-1pm. Not necessarily weekly however, hours can accumulate to provide more hours at an agreed date/time.

Tasks/duties.: - SU is reasonably independent with day to day activities including personal care, nutrition and household tasks. Support is linked primarily to accessing the community due to the acute anxiety he experiences in public places.

It is important that the PA has transport and is able to provide transport to support him with accessing the places and activities that are important to him. Journey’s may include:
Driving to different places. going for walks. places of interest. Drinks in pubs and cafes to use Wi-Fi. Playing pool / snooker. To see his favourite football team Leicester City play a game. Possibly a rugby match.

He seems to particularly enjoy accessing parks with support, including parks in Oakham, Corby and Melton - he enjoys feeding the ducks.

Would like occasional support with clothes shopping (Leicester, Corby, Peterborough, Grantham, Loughborough). Help choosing / wearing clothes (encouragement) and also taking to appointments, booking and attending - opticians, doctors, hospitals, dentist).

Support to access local cafes – uses this as an opportunity for internet access. PA to support with internet access to check and respond to emails and for online shopping and enquiries. He would like to work on his digital skills.

- Opportunity to play pool.
- He has a goal of watching a Leicester City football game – with support to explore options for concessionary/free match tickets and potentially support to access a game (anticipated to be infrequent).

- Often struggles to make both basic choices and major decisions. He will ask the opinion and guidance of his PAs and may need reminded about following up on tasks/decisions.

- Experiences severe anxiety and can become preoccupied by his feelings of harassment from others. PA to provide reassurance as required when supporting to access the community.

- Support to respond to letters – including support/advice with letters received and following up if he has a query/complaint.

Benefits include:
5.6 weeks paid holiday (employed PA’s)
Mileage paid directly by SU.
Access to a workplace pension (if eligible)
DBS paid for by funding authority if certificate not already in place.

Role subject to interview and DBS check.
