More detail about the role: Are you interested in moving and handling and up for a challenge, combining your clinical and teaching skills? We are developing a role as part of the Practice Educator team to lead on supporting community teams with their moving and handling refresher training. The position will work with the Community AHPs, Community Nurses and unregistered staff to support their moving and handling queries and delivering refresher courses. The role is open to Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and Nurses who have an interest in teaching, and have qualifications or experience in moving and handling techniques and equipment used in patient care. Key Trainer qualification on application is desirable, however training can be arranged once in post if this course has not already been completed. The role will include working with the other Practice Educators in developing and providing training packages to maintain skills and competence in community clinical roles, and offering specialist advise on moving and handling techniques to ensure safe delivery of care. The main base for the new position will be at Newcourt House, however the post holder will need to be able to drive to deliver training in the two main moving and handling training sites in Crediton Hospital and Millbrook, or other community sites to support relevant teams. The role will encompass driving innovative service improvements and will have a close relationship with community teams and the Moving and Handling Team to maintain a high-quality service, and moving and handling skills in the community. Excellent communication skills will be required to deliver the training and to support the individuals in their education. Computer skills are essential to develop training packages, and to maintain the IT based information systems for the educational and clinical elements of the role.
