Amira is a lovely 9-year-old girl who lives with her parents and sister in Byker. Amira and her family follow and practice the Muslim Faith and as such would ideally like to seek a Personal Assistant from within their cultural community. Amira can speak some Arabic and English but is predominantly Non-Verbal, using one-word statements to tell you, her needs. Amira will be a “copycat” and repeat the words you speak.

Amira is diagnosed with Autism, Sleeping Issues and Pica. Pica is a feeding disorder in which someone eats non-food substances that have no nutritional value, such as paper, soap, paint, chalk, or ice. Amira is a severe nail biter and has no regulation of pain when injured and as such requires a high level of vigilance. She can self-harm unintentionally and intentionally on occasion due to the lack of pain regulation.

Amira will use a wheelchair if she requires it and does have a safety harness for walking that she may need to use if she is in a heightened emotional state as she will run away and has no awareness of danger. She has an excellent memory and can recite and recall places she has visited or enjoyed. Amira loves to be outdoors and enjoys visits to the park. She also enjoys dining out and loves Nando’s and Indian cuisine. Amira loves collecting things and will store her collections everywhere. She also enjoys super yoga on YouTube and various music and dance videos, she also enjoys woodwind instrument sounds.

The family are seeking an experienced Personal Assistant who can demonstrate sound knowledge of Autism and its challenges.

A car driver with a car is preferred for this position but not essential, but you must be willing to use public transport or walk places. Initially the family would be accompanying the PA on outings until Amira feels comfortable in your presence.
