Key Responsibilities:

• Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with SEMH needs, both in the classroom and during extracurricular activities.
• Assist the class teacher in planning and delivering engaging lessons that cater to the diverse needs and abilities of students.
• Implement behavior management strategies and interventions to support positive behaviour and create a safe and inclusive learning environment.
• Support students in developing social skills, emotional regulation, and self-esteem through structured activities and therapeutic interventions.
• Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and external agencies to develop and implement individualized support plans and monitor student progress.
• Provide feedback to the class teacher on student performance, behaviour, and well-being, and contribute to the ongoing assessment and evaluation process.

Key Requirements and Skills:

• Relevant experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs, preferably within a school or educational setting.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and families.
• Empathy, patience, and resilience in supporting students facing social, emotional, and behavioural challenges.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team and follow instructions from the class teacher and SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator).
• Basic knowledge of English spelling, grammar, and punctuation to assist students with literacy activities and written assignments.
• Flexibility, adaptability, and a proactive approach to supporting student learning and well-being in a dynamic school environment.
