SEMH Specialist Teacher

Our school community is committed to nurturing the potential of every student, and we are seeking a passionate and experienced SEMH Specialist Teacher to join our team.

Role Overview: As a SEMH Specialist Teacher, you will play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality education and support to students with SEMH needs. Working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, you will create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment where every student feels valued and supported on their educational journey.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons that cater to the diverse needs of students with SEMH needs.
• Implement behaviour management strategies and interventions to support students in developing positive social and emotional skills.
• Collaborate with teaching assistants, therapists, and external agencies to provide holistic support to students and their families.
• Assess student progress and development, and adapt teaching approaches accordingly to maximize learning outcomes.
• Foster positive relationships with students, parents, and carers, maintaining open communication and providing regular feedback on student progress.
• Create a safe and inclusive learning environment that promotes emotional well-being and encourages self-expression and self-regulation.
• Stay abreast of best practices and developments in the field of SEMH education, continuously enhancing your knowledge and skills.

Skills Required:

• Demonstrated experience working with students with SEMH needs, preferably within a school setting.
• Strong understanding of SEMH-related issues and challenges, with the ability to implement effective strategies to support student well-being and learning.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, colleagues, and external stakeholders.
• Adaptability and resilience to respond effectively to the varying needs and behaviours of students with SEMH needs.
• Creative and innovative approach to teaching, with a commitment to engaging students in meaningful and experiential learning experiences.
