Children’s Services are responsible for the delivery of care to young people in our residential houses.


You will assist, support and encourage young people to achieve their highest aspirations by responding to each child as an individual; value their strengths and respond in a healing way to their difficulties; and ensure each young person grows up in a loving environment with positive experiences to achieve their potential.


You must have an HNC in Social Care or an equivalent qualification at level 6 (SQF) or above HNC in Social Care or equivalent at/or above SCQF level 7 that includes social policy, sociology and psychology. A SVQ3 in Social Care, or the capacity to achieve this is also required.

Previous experience of working with young people who have complex needs and an understanding of the needs of young people in relation to trauma, attachment and resilience; and the ability to build and sustain positive relationships with difficult to engage young people and their families is required. You must have experience of writing reports; an in-depth understanding of social care values; effective literacy, IT and communication skills with the ability to demonstrate emotional intelligence, be enthusiastic and motivated with the ability to work as part of a team, be organised and reliable and able to prioritise your workload.

You will be required to work shifts including weekends.

You must be registered with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) or achieve registration within 6 months of appointment.

Previous experience of working in a residential child care setting is desirable as is a
current full driving licence.

A SVQ3 in Social Care, or the capacity to achieve this is also desirable.
