Summary

Job Purpose:

To co-ordinate and develop additional learning support provision placing students at the heart of the process within an inclusive framework. To embed direct learning support in all curriculum areas in mainstream and specialist provision, developing quality systems within the team to support AEB 19+ audit requirements for quality and funding purposes.

Key Responsibilities

1. Support the embedding of Equality & Diversity, making reasonable adjustments for learners with EHCP’s in the College
2. Oversee the assessing support needs for all 19+ student advising on reasonable adjustments
3. To support the SEND and Inclusion Supervisors to work with admissions and through induction and transition to college programmes for learners within main stream and specialist provision
4. To monitor quality standards for ALS including audit documents for LEA and external funding purposes
5. Oversee the assessment and allocation of 19+ students support as needed monitoring and evaluating effectiveness
6. Keep up to date with current methods of supporting students with SEND and disseminate new strategies to other professionals
7. Ensure that knowledge on all information related to learning support is disseminated in the college
8. Ensure that the environment is fit for purpose for students and that reasonable adjustments needed are communicated to relevant managers
9. Complete return to work interviews with team members and refer to HR for occupational health or relevant services
10. Hold 1-1 meetings with team members react appropriately to any concerns raised referring to internal or external support systems
11. Ensure that any welfare issues are recorded and monitored appropriately referring to managers when necessary in line with confidentiality processes
12. Carry out observations as part of the college observation team providing feedback and guidance on effective methods of supporting students
13. Carry out probation on new staff members and provide necessary training
14. Ensure team are current with their knowledge in all aspects of their work by providing on-going training opportunities during CPD days
15. Understand systems in order to train other team members on the systems they need for their job role
16. Communicate effectively with student and parents to explain the support they can expect
17. Interpret legal requirements regarding EHCP and support ensuring that this is clearly communicated internally
18. Lead SEND team on requirements of support for students with EHCP, overs the timetabling of SSW
19. Liaise with agencies in collaboration with HR as appropriate to ensure the correct specialist support is made available
20. Liaise with IS for completion of ESB to ensure compliance with the ILR
21. Provide general support for Parents, students and Professionals on a daily basis
22. Support funding Audits internal and external as required ensuring that auditable documents are in place
23. Oversee the monitoring of funding for 19+ students

Other Duties and Responsibilities

• To carry out all duties in accordance with the College’s Health and Safety policies and procedures.

• To carry out any other duties as directed by your Line Manager.
