Summary

Full Time, Fixed Term (3 years)

Applications are invited for the post of Lecturer in Children’s Literature in the English Department, to start in the new academic year (from 2nd September 2024).

The appointment will be expected to deliver the 3rd year Children’s Literature (EN3225) course across both terms, as well as some other teaching. The syllabus and structure of EN3225 is locked-in for 2024-2025, but the appointment will have the opportunity to adapt or improve the course for subsequent years.

The primary focus of the job is children’s literature, but experience in other areas, such as creative writing and the ability to teach them, though not a requirement, may be an advantage.

Applicants should have a proven record of high-quality teaching. The successful candidate will be required to teach on BA courses in addition to EN3225, to supervise BA final projects, and to take on personal tutees. The appointee will be expected to participate fully in delivering the Department’s objectives with respect to teaching, and public engagement. They will also participate in departmental administration as requested by the Head of Department.
