Summary


Are you a conscientious and adaptable GPhC Registered Pharmacy Technician with excellent interpersonal and communication skills?

We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and proactive Pharmacy Technician to join the Pharmacy team at The Grange University Hospital. We are a busy department and are looking for a highly motivated individual that shares our vision and is looking for a new challenge.

The Grange University Hospital is a Specialist Critical Care Hospital and so provides the opportunity for our Pharmacy Technicians to work across a range of specialties including Cardiology, Haematology, Surgery, and Paediatrics. Pharmacy enjoys excellent multidisciplinary links within the Health Board and we are committed to the professional development of our strong team. The Health Board has automated pharmacy systems and a comprehensive medicines management service including electronic discharge.

Candidates must have a BTEC, or NVQ Level 3 in Pharmaceutical Sciences (or equivalent) as well as Medicines Management and ACPT qualifications (or be working towards). Candidates should have previous experience of providing a medicines management service to a clinical area.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

We encourage all applicants to arrange an informal visit to the Pharmacy Department to obtain an overview of what this role will entail prior to interview.

To provide a medicines management service to acute wards and participate in dispensary sessions at GUH.

To work closely with the Senior Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacists to assist in the daily running of the Medicines Management ward-based service and the Pharmacy Dispensary.

To use the Pharmacy and other computer systems (e.g., CWS) to carry out all tasks in an accurate and timely manner. Ensuring a safe and efficient Pharmacy service can be provided whilst delivering the highest quality patient care through personal actions and continuous improvement.

To supply medication suitably labelled for discharge, including checking suitability of patient’s own medication.

To transcribe drug histories or reconciled drug charts to the ‘Discharge notification’ section on CWS on or during admission.

To accurately check the dispensing of other members of the department, following completion of ABUHB ACPT reaccreditation that meets the requirements of the National Education Framework.

To communicate accurate information to patients, carers, members of pharmacy and other healthcare professionals.

To comply with Health and Safety and COSHH legislation to ensure the safe handling of all pharmaceuticals.
