Summary
The band 6 OPAT treatment nurse /OPAT specialist Health and safety nurse will care for many patients on the OPAT program, many of whom have differing healthcare needs. They will utilize their clinical expertise and specialist knowledge to deliver high quality evidence/research based care to the OPAT patient. This care will take place in the infusion Centre, our clinics and in the community setting. There is an element of lone working.The post holder will be expected to use their experience to support the implementation of clinical governance to improve patient services.The post holder will need to take charge of the clinical case load/centre in the absence of the OPAT manager/Specialist Nurses.They will be required to work flexibly as a member of the OPAT team to ensure standards are being maintained, evaluated and where necessary improved .In addition to the obligatory clinical skills, the practitioner may be required to develop a range of additional skills or techniques that fall outside the usual scope of nursing practice, including line placement.The post holder will be based within NUH and in the community. The post holder must be able to drive and have access to a car which can be used and is insured for work purposes.The post holder is required to be registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
