An exciting opportunity has arisen to become part of our focused and friendly team at the Endoscopy Reprocessing Unit (ERU) based at both Wigan and Leigh sites, as a Band 5 Team Coordinator.







We are looking for an experienced highly motivated individual with energy and a high level of interpersonal skills to join our existing management team.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills and be able to work effectively under pressure against challenging deadlines,

This role involves managing a team of up to 15 staff.

The position available is for.

37.5 hours per week, Monday - Friday working between the hours of 8am-6pm

On-Call

Please note that senior positions (AFC band 8A or above) may be expected to participate in an on-call rota, if the role is predominantly operational.

The post holder will provide administrative and secretarial support to the Divisional Management Team.

The Co-ordinator is responsible to the unit manager for:
• Effective resource planning & management across 2 sites including on-call service.
• Daily management of Team leaders & Technicians on duty and provide leadership and direction throughout the shift.
• To make decisions based upon current workload and throughout to ensure that staff are deployed into the most appropriate area to ensure the unit remains efficient.
• To ensure all Emergency Requests are followed through within the necessary timescales to avoid cancellation or delays to patient treatment.
• Always ensure strict adherence to the documented Quality Management System in all areas and report deficiencies to the Unit Manager and Quality/Governance Manager.
• To act as the single point of contact for all Customers and Supervisors to ensure continuity and direction to all individuals on duty. Close liaison with Senior Service Staff within the Medical & Surgical teams and departmental staff, ensuring that clinical needs are met.
• To report any defective equipment to the appropriate contractor, Estates Department (in hours) or the On-Call Engineer (out of hours).
• To escalate any potential service outage that may delay product throughput that are likely to last more than 2 hours to the Decontamination Manager and SMOC On-Call.
• To authorise unit machinery such as washer-disinfectors, drying cabinets & surestore system be taken out of action for testing by Engineering staff.
• Where equipment is subject to a maintenance programme, there must be full co-operation with the Maintenance staff to limit the loss of production due to breakdown. No machinery should be used if it is unsafe or fails to meet accepted performance standards. This must be marked as “Out of Action” and recorded in the log and escalated to the Production Manager.
• Meet the demands of the Units workload whilst consistently achieving high quality standards which will be measured by in-process checks. To use manual dexterity and concentration for the processing of the reusable Flexible Endoscopes in accordance with Manufacturer’s instructions.
