Summary


We are recruiting for a Trainee High Intensity CBT Therapist who wishes to join our team. You should share our passion and drive to ensure that our patients receive quality and compassionate care.

Applicants must be available to commence their employment W/C 9th September 2024.

There is an exciting opportunity to train with the University of Southampton, and to join NHS Talking Therapies (for anxiety and depression) Isle of Wight. The successful candidate will provide high intensity therapy as approved by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) .

You will work with patients who have a range of mild to moderate anxiety and depression, and severe common mental health problems for which high intensity psychological interventions are demonstrated to be clinically effective.

Are you eligible to apply?

The course you will be completing at the University of Southampton as part of this role is a Level 2 accredited course with BABCP. This means that upon completion trainees will meet criteria to apply for provisional accreditation as a CBT therapist with the BABCP.

To be appointable to this post, you must meet the criteria for CBT training and also have a BABCP-recognised professional background in mental health or related areas.

Interviews are due to take place in early June. As part of the interview, you will be expected to complete a CBT assessment role play.

Across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight healthcare services are evolving and transforming to meet the continuing care needs of our population. Now is a very exciting time to join Isle of Wight NHS Trust as we enter this period of change.

This year Isle of Wight NHS Trust and Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust have strengthened our partnership and formed a group giving us an opportunity to work together to be innovative in improving patient care and outcomes as well as improving the experience and opportunities for our people across the two organisations.

We have also been working with other local NHS Trusts across our region to create a new organisation, bringing together all community, mental health and learning disability services from across Hampshire and Isle of Wight. Subject to approvals, the new organisation will be called Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.

As part of the move towards working as one organisation, people employed in our community, mental health and learning disability services by the Isle of Wight NHS Trust on 30 April 2024, will transfer to Southern Health Foundation Trust under Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) on 1 May 2024.

On 1stJuly 2024 Southern Health will become the new organisation (Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare Foundation Trust).

The Isle of Wight NHS Trust will continue to deliver both acute and ambulance services for the island population.

Person specification:

The successful applicant must be highly motivated and passionate about improving access to evidence based treatment for depression, anxiety disorders and PTSD

The applicant must be able to demonstrate ability to manage a caseload and meet specified service targets

Must be able to assess and manage clinical risk

Must be able to work in team environment

A driving license is essential for this post and the successful applicant must be able to travel to different locations

The successful applicant must be computer literate

Disclosure and Barring Service Check

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.

Main Duties

The post holder will deliver evidence based therapy in primary care, to clients who have a range of mild to moderate, and severe common mental health problems.

The post holder will deliver the evidence based interventions via differing modalities such as a group setting, face to face, and e-clinics.

The post holder will participate in caseload management on a monthly basis

The post holder will participate in clinical supervision on a weekly basis.

The post holder will adhere to an activity contract agreed with the service manager at appraisal.

The post holder will be responsible for maintaining continued professional development for professional accreditation and keeping a log of all related CPD

The post holder will be seen as a skilled practitioner who will be a resource for the team and a source of clinical excellence and advice
