Summary

Rehabilitation Officer Visual Impairment (PO1)

Description
The Rehabilitation Officer Visual Impairment (PO1) plays a crucial role in providing support and assistance to individuals with visual impairments. They work closely with rehabilitation teams to assess the needs of visually impaired individuals and develop customized rehabilitation plans to improve their quality of life and independence. The Rehabilitation Officer Visual Impairment (PO1) also works with community organizations and service providers to ensure that appropriate resources and services are available to meet the unique needs of visually impaired individuals.

Responsibilities
Conduct assessments and evaluations of visual impairments to determine individual needs and develop rehabilitation plans
Provide counseling and support to visually impaired individuals and their families to help them adjust to their condition
Collaborate with healthcare professionals, such as ophthalmologists and occupational therapists, to ensure an integrated approach to rehabilitation
Develop and implement strategies to enhance independent living skills, including mobility training and daily living activities
Provide specialized education and training to visually impaired individuals on assistive technologies and adaptive techniques
Advocate for the rights and inclusion of visually impaired individuals in educational, vocational, and community settings
Evaluate the effectiveness of rehabilitation interventions and make adjustments to individual plans as necessary
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in rehabilitation or a related field
Professional certification in visual impairment rehabilitation or willingness to obtain certification within a specified time frame
Knowledge of visual impairment assessment tools and rehabilitation techniques
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively work with a diverse range of individuals and organizations
Experience in developing and implementing individual rehabilitation plans
Knowledge of community resources and support services for visually impaired individuals
Familiarity with assistive technologies for visual impairments and adaptive techniques
