Summary


An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Maternity services as a Maternity Support Worker. The successful applicants will be joining a friendly, dynamic team to work across all areas within Maternity including Delivery Suite, Maternity Assessment Unit, Midwifery Led Unit and Maternity Base. This post will incorporate Long Day shifts as well as Long Night shifts and weekends.

The post holder will provide direct clinical care to women and babies accessing the Maternity service and contribute to the effective running of the Department by working alongside, but under the guidance of practitioners from the multidisciplinary team including obstetricians, midwives, ultra- sonographers and advanced practitioners, to ensure the provision of high quality evidence based and individualised plans of care for mothers and babies.

 Assist general bed making, cleaning beds and lockers, bedpans, trolleys and preparing for new admissions.
 Decontamination of equipment as required and ensuring infection control measures are adhered to.
 Provide and receive information in relation to mothers and babies and escalate as appropriate to qualified midwife or doctor
 To undertake and be responsible for routine tasks with close supervision e.g. locating and filing in notes, preparing documentation and medical and surgical equipment in the department for use by the multidisciplinary team
