Summary

An excellent opportunity for an experienced Project Engineer to join a well-established company based on Blaydon-On-Tyne!

The Company:

They are a specialist electrical/mechanical contractor to the electrical supply industry and other large consumers of electricity. The company specialises in repair and refurbishment of power transformers and associated high voltage plant.

Founded in 1981 the firm is based in Blaydon on Tyne and operates from the Outer Hebrides in the north to Cornwall in the south, as well as Eire and the Netherlands and occasionally further afield.

The company has developed a full Integrated Management System for Health and Safety, Quality and Environmental to ISO18001, ISO9001 and ISO14001 and is dedicated to maintaining high standards of onsite engineering work.

The Role:

They currently have an opportunity for a motivated and committed individual to lead projects both technically and commercially. The role will involve working with a dedicated engineering management team as well as occasionally some hands on engineering.

You will be working with multi discipline teams, running projects for new and existing customers within the power generation, transmission, nuclear, oil & gas and industrial industries. The successful applicant will have a background in electrical / mechanical engineering and will ideally (but not essentially) have experience of power transformers or high voltage equipment.

As a member of the management team, you will be expected to understand the business requirements and have strong communication and people skills to develop relationships both with our existing workforce and customers. The successful candidate will be required to visit sites and represent the company to new and existing clients. On visiting sites, the candidate must be capable of assessing and estimating the works required and any health, safety or environmental aspects that need to be considered.

The role also includes the preparation of tender documents and pricing according to company procedures. Liaising with customers, subcontractors and Rosh staff on award of contract is essential to ensure successful completion of works

Candidates should also hold as a minimum an HND in electrical or mechanical engineering. Project management and CAD experience is an advantage. You will be involved on a variety of projects from initial proposal to on site commissioning/completion. The projects will involve working with and understanding designs, technical specifications and project plans, whilst providing technical expertise throughout.
