Summary

SEN Teaching Assistant - Middleton

As a Teaching Assistant with a focus on supporting children with Special Educational Needs, you truly make an enormous difference to children's lives on a daily basis.

As a Teaching Assistant at a large primary school in Middleton, we require you to provide support for a Year 1 pupil with a diagnosis of autism. The role will primarily be a 1:1 focus and experience of ASD; either in a professional or personal capacity, is essential.

The school is seeking an SEN TA on a full-time basis; working from 8.30am-3.30pm, Monday to Friday.

What we are looking for
- Knowledge and/or experience of working with or supporting any form of Special Educational Need; experience of autism would be beneficial
- Experience of working with children is useful but not essential. Your attitude, desire to help children, knowledge and transferable skills are equally as important, sometimes more so.
- You will help to keep children safe by supporting the safeguarding of children and encouraging positive behaviour through agreed behaviour management strategies
- You will provide care and encouragement to pupils while supporting the teacher in the delivery and evaluation of learning activities
- The ability to remove barriers to learning and provide mentoring support to children.

Who this role would suit
- A qualified Teaching Assistant with knowledge of SEN or supporting challenging behaviour
- Someone with a background in Residential Support, Social Work, Mental Health Support or with similar transferable skills
- Psychology, Counselling, or Psychotherapy degree graduates (other Mental Health-related qualifications are considered)
- Individuals with knowledge and/or experience of supporting children, young people or adults with any form of additional need; either professionally or personally.
