Uganda Croydon Catholic Community (UCCC) based in Croydon Surrey United Kingdom is looking for a Religious Worker to work as Youth/Teens Worker. The church serves a multi-ethnic community especially people from Uganda.

The Youth/Teens Worker will have a desire to work with youth’s/Teens and their families, helping them to integrate with the Church. The church serves a multi-ethnic community especially people from Uganda.
The salary offered is £17,940 per year. Working 30 hour per week and the role will require weekend working. You may be required to work additional hours depending on our organisation’s needs.
Length of contract: Initially for 2 years.

PRIMARY ROLE:
Working alongside the lead minister in communicating the priorities of Youths and Teenagers in accordance with the vision of UCCC.

FUNCTIONS AND AUTHORITY:
The Youth/Teens Worker will be responsible for coordinating activities for youths, teens, and the families to increase involvement with the Church and the community.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Assessing the needs of Youths and Teens in the Church and community.
•Planning and delivering programs activities which are fun, safe, social, and educational (e.g., team building, developing self-confidence)
•Develop the opportunities for Youths/Teens to grow spiritually.
•Build relationships with parents, and the young people.
•Make regular calls to active, inactive youth’s, teens, and their families.
•Be present at church activities to establish connections with the Youths/Teens.
•Attend workshops and personal growth activities.
•Communicate with parents about activity calendars, event plans for the Youths and Teens.
•Coordinate scheduled events with the church office and calendar.
•Publicize Youths and Teens programs through social media, and other means.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
•A strong personal Christian faith.
•An ability to work within and maintain professional boundaries when working with people.
•Understanding and knowledge of confidentiality and safeguarding issues.
•A commitment and ability to work with people from diverse social and cultural backgrounds.
•A passion for working with children, young people, and families.
•Able to inspire, empower and motivate children and young people.
•A people person, with the ability to easily relate to young and old, church, and non-church people.
•Creative and Adaptable.
•Positive, fun, and optimistic, and have a great sense of humour and humility.
•Good people management skills, team building and motivational skills.
Strong knowledge and ability to speak, read and write in English is required and knowledge of Uganda language and any of Ugandans Cultures is essential as the community we cater for ls mostly from Uganda.
