Our client is seeking dedicated individuals to join their team as Residential Support Workers in SE London.

Are you the right person for the job?

• Experienced in working in an Ofsted Registered children's home setting.
• Working knowledge of the key statutory guidance and legislation for safeguarding children which include:

• Guide to the Children’s Homes Regulations, including the quality standards (2015) Children Act 1989 and 2004
• Every Child Matters 2003
• Excellent understanding of guidance on children who run away and go missing from home or care (2014)
• Children Act 1989
• Care Standards Act 2000
• Children (Leaving Care) Act 2000


• Ability to take ownership of lead area within the job role, making necessary enquires, monitoring and updating where and when required.
• Self-motivated and flexible
• Excellent communicator
• Excellent organisational skills
• Team player with the ability to work independently
• Caring and Sensitive to the needs of others
• Ability to navigate database for daily recordings in line with children’s home standards and accessing information
• Ability to compile accurate records for incident, accident, and missing reports
• Understanding or risk assessment and reduction, in line with safeguarding children and young people

Other requirements

A degree of flexibility is needed. You may occasionally need to perform work not specifically referred to above to support the care team and young people. The need to do such duties will be reasonable and as agreed between the post holder and the manager.

What will your role look like?

As a Residential Support Key Worker, you will play a crucial role in providing advice, assistance, and support to children and young people, ensuring their physical, emotional, and practical needs are met. Your responsibilities will include:

• Establishing positive relationships and providing unconditional support.
• Helping children and young people address difficulties and achieve their potential.
• Acting as a key worker to ensure care plans are followed and amended as needed.
• Providing emotional support during challenging times.
• Supporting educational PEEP and extracurricular activities.
• Empowering children and young people to actively participate in decision-making.
• Collaborating with colleagues to achieve shared objectives.
• Adhering to policies and procedures to maintain a safe and nurturing environment.
• Continuous development is integral to the team culture, and additional responsibilities may arise to meet evolving needs. Staff members are expected to work flexibly within their level of responsibility.
• This role involves varying shifts, including early mornings, late evenings, and on-call rotations. Weekend and bank holiday work is required. Flexibility to adjust schedules with short notice is essential.
