Summary

Nursery Practitioner Job Vacancy
Work should be fun and we are looking for individuals who share that
philosophy whilst providing children under 5 with a ‘Sound Foundation’
for life.
With over 40 years of experience, the Canterbury Day Nursery has developed a unique
character that reflects the diversity and individuality of its children.
To be considered for the Nursery Practitioner position you must have an NVQ
Level 2/3 in Early Years and Childcare or equivalent along with previous
experience within a Nursery setting. In addition, you must possess the
following key skills and experience:
• Working with the room senior to ensure the room meets all legal
requirements set out in the Early Years Foundation Stage
• Participating in the planning and implementation of Early Years
Foundation Stage using the characteristics of effective learning
• Acting as a key worker for allocated children
• Ensuring two way, open, honest communication with all parents and
informing them of relevant aspects of nursery life and their child’s development
• Ensuring upkeep of the room providing a safe and welcoming and stimulating
environment to children, staff, and parents
• Being an allocated first aider
• Being responsible for your own personal development under the guidance of your room senior.
• Ability to work as part of a team
• Good interpersonal skills
• Articulate with excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Potential to understand and implement Ofsted standards
• Ability to deal with parents and effectively handle issues
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and work towards deadlines
• Ability to work on own initiative
• Offers practical solutions to problems
• Role model to other staff
• Ability to have fun
• As a Charity we expect all staff to help with events outside of working hours in the form of Fundraising.

training programs for all of our colleagues to support their ongoing
professional development.
Successful applicants will need to provide the ‘right to work in the UK’
documentation, undertake a DBS, and provide two satisfactory references
prior to commencing employment.
