GM Coachwork is one of the UK’s largest vehicle conversion specialists, striving to design, manufacture and deliver accessible transport solutions. We are a privately funded large business employing more than 200 people. We are currently experiencing an exciting period of growth, and this is a fantastic opportunity to join a successful, established business in South Devon.
We are currently recruiting for Vehicle Assemblers to join our Operations team. Working on a production line, you would be paired with an experienced Vehicle Assembler who will assist you in your learning. Training will include – Observation of vehicle stage build, building with a Vehicle Assembler, building with a Vehicle Assembler observing and then building solo when signed off. Beyond training, you will be working on a stage (stage will be between 50min to 4hr depending on build) using supplied materials and tools.
Day-to-day duties but not limited to
Clock in / out respectively
Clock to job number & check paperwork matches correct vehicle detail
Carry out vehicle modification as per job confirmation
Complete modifications in all allocated times with liaison – Manager / Leading Hand
Keep workshop & work area clean / tidy / organised
Assist others where necessary
Escalate problems / issues to manager / Leading Hand promptly and accurately
Quality focus in all activities
Work safely and utilise appropriate PPE
Essential skills and Experience
Read and understand basic mechanical drawings and SOP’s
Skilfully use a wide range of air and hand tools
Follow a defined process without deviation
Maintain and build all assemblies to the quality standard required
Use and maintain company tools in a safe, clean, and workable condition
Complete all company documentation where necessary and maintain all work areas to company standard
To be effective in this role, you will have good communication skills and excellent attention to detail. You will be competent in working with power and air tools and have a flexible, can-do attitude. Experience of working within a manufacturing site/production line would be advantageous but is not essential.
Personal Circumstances
Full UK/EU Driving Licence

Typical working hours: 08:00 – 4:30pm Monday to Friday
Annual holiday entitlement in any holiday year is 28 days, inclusive of all public holiday entitlement. Following the completion of 5 years’ continuous service, holiday entitlement will increase by 1 day per year up to a maximum of 33 days inclusive of bank holidays.
